LASIK, LASER VISION CORRECTION

There is a lot of confusion about vision correction. The most common procedure is LASIK (laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis). It is designed to reduce or eliminate glasses or contact lenses for NEARSIGHTED, FARSIGHTED OR ASTIGMATIC eyes. In more detail: the procedure uses either a laser or microkeratome to create a flap which is lifted and the excimer laser is applied to the eye gently sculpting the cornea with our “cool” laser thus changing the shape of the eye and changing the prescription. The procedure is done in the safety of our Surgery Center and takes only 10 minutes! You will be offered medicine to help you relax but there is generally very little discomfort. We use no needles and with our technique the microkeratome is disposable so it only touches your eye! Patients generally notice an improvement minutes after surgery and after their nap see quite well and virtually all patients can drive to their follow up appoitment the next morning.
